Rome → Florence → Siena → Naples → Sorrento → Rome

Trip at a Glance

Duration:

11 days

Best for:

Couples, close friends traveling together, first-time Italy travelers

Best season:

Late spring and early summer for ideal weather and full Amalfi Coast access

Pace:

Multi-night stays throughout, no single-night hotel hops

First Stop: Rome, Nearly 3,000 Years of History

The trip begins in Rome, one of the world's most romantic and historically significant cities. From the airport, a private English-speaking driver handles the transfer straight to the train station, so there's no scrambling with luggage or language barriers on day one.

The Landing: Met planeside logistics handled before you even clear customs. A driver, a car, and a direct route to your next train.

The City Itself: Piazzas, open-air markets, and landmarks around every corner, saved for the second half of the trip when there's time to actually explore them.

Antor tip: Most travelers don't realize how tight Italy's train connections can be. We build in the buffer so a delayed flight doesn't mean a missed train.

Next: Florence, The Cradle of the Renaissance

A premium-cabin train ride brings the trip into Florence, the capital of Tuscany and the birthplace of the Renaissance. The trip settles into a charming, family-run boutique hotel near Piazza Indipendenza, the kind of place that's been welcoming guests since the 1950s.

The Stay:

A centrally located boutique hotel blending modern design with classic Italian warmth, an ideal base for wandering Florence on foot.

The Countryside:

A private half-day tour through the Tuscan countryside, rolling hills, cypress trees, olive groves, and a wine tasting along the way.

Finally: The Amalfi Coast

Two connecting trains carry the trip south to Naples, a UNESCO World Heritage city set at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. From there, a private transfer continues on to Sorrento, a seaside town on the Bay of Naples that's been captivating travelers for centuries.

The Setting: A Mediterranean-style resort with panoramic views of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, and the Amalfi Coast, surrounded by a citrus garden and a short walk from the town center.

The Island: A full-day small-group tour to the island of Capri, including the Blue Grotto and a lunch stop, one of the most iconic day trips in Italy.

The Base: Three nights in Sorrento, long enough to actually settle into the coast rather than just pass through it.

Back to Rome for the Grand Finale

The trip returns to Rome for its final three nights, this time staying in one of the city's most exclusive pockets, between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain, for an up-close finish to the trip.

The Vatican:

A small-group morning tour through the Vatican Museums, the Gallery of the Tapestries, and the Sistine Chapel, timed early to beat the crowds.

Ancient Rome:

A small-group tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum, walking the same ground where Rome's emperors once ruled the known world.

The Stay:

A boutique hotel decorated in contemporary Italian-modern style, positioned steps from some of the city's most famous landmarks.
